Tui Na Therapy
Tui Na Therapy is an Oriental Bodywork Therapy that has been used in China for 2,000 years. Tui Na Therapy uses the traditional Chinese medical theory of the flow of Qi through the meridians as its basic therapeutic orientation. Through the application of massage and manipulation techniques Tui Na Therapy seeks to establish a more harmonious flow of Qi through the system of channels and collaterals, allowing the body the naturally heal itself. Tui Na Therapy methods include the use of hand techniques to massage the soft tissue (muscles and tendons) of the body, and manipulation techniques to realign the musculoskeletal and ligamentous relationships (bone-setting). This course is well suited for the treatment of specific musculoskeletal disorders and soft tissue injury. Effective treatment protocols have been tested in a practical setting.This program introduces students the principles of TCM theory and practical knowledge of the Tui Na Therapy. It will focus on the basic techniques, indications and contraindications of Tui Na Therapy. This program also covers surface anatomy, TCM diagnosis and Western Medicine diagnosis. Specific Tui Na Therapy techniques on different regions of the body will be discussed thoroughly. In addition, this program provides students with knowledge of Tui Na Therapy in various clinical situations. The diagnosis and treatment of injuries of the neck, back, upper and lower extremities will be discussed with the focus on Tui Na Therapy. This program also introduces students Tui Na Therapy techniques used for common internal disorders.
Attendance Expectations: As the program is only 30 hours in length, requirement on attendance and classroom participation will be strictly enforced.
